The Australian Design Rules (ADRs) are national standards for vehicle safety, anti-theft and emissions. Vehicles fall within these parameters based on date of manufacture.

The Second Edition ADRs became effective from 1 January 1969.

The Third Edition ADRs became effective from 1 July 1988.


 Modified or Constructed Vehicles

The Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007 and the National Code of Practice for Light Construction and Modification (NCOP) VSB 14 provide the technical requirements when modifying or constructing a vehicle.

The Street Rod NSW Supplement and the National Guidelines for the Construction and Modification of Street Rods in Australia, Second Edition are the standards followed in NSW for technical requirements when modifying or constructing a Street Rod.
